Homework...Last year the math pages were one sided and I could pull them all on Friday, for the next week. This year they are two sided, and so far I've been sending them home one at a time. I think that will have to be the way to do it this year :(. Reading homework will be given on Friday, for the next week, and will include the text book.
Tonight's homework is the "Subtraction Practice Homework" page (3 problems). They need to solve it using the base 10 method, but I want to start introducing the standard algorithm (the way you and I learned as kids). Please sit down with them and help them to see the connection between the two methods.
In ELA we had a bad round of read-to-self (less than 2 minutes), then a great round of read-to-self of 15 minutes. We read another "bucket filling" book and finished Tikki Tikki Tembo. The strategy we are using is questioning before, during and after. We are going back into the text to PROVE our answers.
In Science we investigated how many bones are in our body by feeling our own bones.
In Math we are subtracting 100's with regrouping.
We have started our read aloud The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
